Saturday 31.08.24, Salmon Evolution proudly hosted an Open Day to mark the official opening of its land-based facility at Indre Harøy. The event was a resounding success, celebrated with speeches and a ribbon-cutting ceremony performed by the Mayor of Hustadvika Municipality, Nils Christian Harnes.
The day began with the delightful sounds of the Bud School Band, followed by inspiring speeches from Salmon Evolution’s CEO Trond Haakon Schaug-Pettersen and Chairman of Salmon Evolution ASA, Tore Tønseth, as well as Ingjerd Eidsvik, CEO of Artec Aqua, the primary contractor for Phase 1 of the project.
The Mayor of Hustadvika honored the occasion with a ribbon-cutting ceremony, setting a joyful tone for the day’s events.
Guests enjoyed a variety of delicious foods, including grilled sausages barbeque, cakes, popcorn, ice cream, and, notably, grilled salmon from the facility itself.
The “wheel of fortune” proved to be a major hit among attendees, while children had a blast with various activities and a special visit from Badulf.
The day’s entertainment was beautifully rounded off by a performance from local artist Solveig Fjellsjø.
CEO Trond Haakon Schaug-Pettersen expressed enthusiasm for the community’s response:
“We are thrilled to give something back to the community. The enthusiasm we’ve experienced in Hustadvika and among the local population has been incredible—nothing but positivity. The same goes for public authorities and investors. It’s been over two years since we put fish in the first tank, and it was high time to showcase the facility as it stands today.”
The main attraction was the guided tours of the facility, allowing visitors to gain insight into the sustainable production of land-based salmon.
With over 800 attendees, the event was a tremendous success, surpassing all our expectations
Salmon Evolution extends its gratitude to everyone who participated in this memorable event and looks forward to continuing its journey with the support of such an engaged and enthusiastic community.
